QA Group

Within the Degree Program, self-evaluation activities and the preparation of the related report are carried out by the Quality Assurance Group (QA Group), appointed by the Degree Program Council upon the proposal of the Coordinator and ratified by the Engineering Department Council.
The Degree Program QA Group is organized in accordance with the Quality Assurance System promulgated by the University Quality Committee. It is currently composed of:
- Professor Dario Bruneo (Degree Program Coordinator)
- Professor Marco Lucio Scarpa (Degree Program Professor)
- Professor Giovanni Merlino (Degree Program Professor)
- Engineer Saverio Panarello (Technical/Administrative Staff)
- Mr. Giovanni Lombardo (Student)

The QA Group's main tasks are:
- Monitoring Degree Program data;
- Defining strategic objectives for the Degree Program;
- identifying and implementing actions to achieve strategic objectives;
- supporting the Coordinator in analyzing the CdS's performance indicators and compiling the Annual Monitoring Report (SMA) and the SUA-CdS;
- drafting the cyclical review of the Degree Programme, identifying strengths and weaknesses and the resulting improvement actions.
The Degree Programme Quality Assurance group draws on the work and documentation produced by other bodies/commissions within the Department of Engineering or the Degree Programme itself, as listed below.
1) The Quality Assurance Officer of the Department of Engineering, Professor Edoardo Proverbio.
2) The Joint Teaching and Student Committee for the Department of Engineering, whose composition is
listed at https://ingegneria.unime.it/it/dipartimento/organizzazione/commissione-paritetica. The Joint Teaching Committee, which consists of teachers and students, monitors the curriculum and the quality of teaching, as well as student services, formulates improvement proposals to the Degree Programs and the Department Councils . It disseminates quality policies to students and formulates indicators for teaching evaluation. It prepares an annual report on the quality of teaching for all Degree Programs in the Department of Engineering, thus supporting the Degree Program in the Quality Assurance process.
3) The Degree Programme Teaching Committee, currently composed of:
- Professor Dario Bruneo (Course Coordinator)
- Professor Maria Gabriella Xibilia
- Professor Francesco Longo
- Professor Salvatore Serrano
The Degree Programme Teaching Committee is responsible for evaluating the admissibility of applications for enrollment in the Degree Programme, with particular reference to those from international students, and for assessing the coherence of the Degree Programme's teaching organization.
4) The Degree Programme Orientation Committee, currently composed of:
- Professor Dario Bruneo (Course Coordinator)
- Professor Salvatore Distefano
- Professor Maria Gabriella Xibilia.

The Degree Program Orientation Committee defines the actions and resources to promote the Degree Program internally at the University, with particular attention to students in the three-year degree programs in Electronic and Computer Engineering and Computer Science, and externally. Committee members participate in the Department of Engineering's orientation activities.
The QA group prepares the self-evaluation report in the form of a commentary on the Annual Monitoring Report, submitting it first to the Engineering Department's quality system coordinator and then to the Degree Program Council. Once approved, the document is forwarded to the Engineering Department Council and then submitted to the University Quality Committee for evaluation.
The Coordinator (Head of Quality Assurance for the Degree Programme) also has the opportunity to share the issues, actions, and results of the quality assurance process with the other Coordinators during meetings within the Teaching Observatory of the
Department of Engineering. This Observatory comprises the Coordinators of all related Degree Programmes and its composition was approved by the Engineering Department Council at its meeting of February 28, 2023.
